Staff and students at Lancaster have been using the OneSearch discovery service since October 2011. Intended as a combined replacement for the Catalogue and MetaLib, OneSearch has proved very popular and offers a flexible platform for development to meet the changing needs of our users in the years to come.
OneSearch offers some features which we think you'll like:
- web searching features such as spell checker and suggestions for refining search results
- book covers similar to Amazon and Google, and material type images
- multiple refining and sorting options
- Facebook 'like' button, tagging and the ability to add reviews
By signing into OneSearch, you can also access your personal account, where you can save useful results and searches, renew your loans, and request items that are currently out on loan. If you are off campus we recommend that you sign in to get easy access to electronic materials.
There is a guide to Onesearch at http://lancaster.libguides.com/onesearch. We would value your feedback. You can send it via our Ask a Librarian form.
