Information for libraries wishing to borrow from Lancaster University Library
Lancaster University Library lends to other UK libraries on standard British Library terms. Most of our stock is available for loan to other libraries, with the exception of rare books (classes 97, 98 and 99), our reference collection (classes 1 and 2), maps, company reports and language-learning kits. In addition, we do not lend material that is in demand by our own readers. We do not lend DVDs, but other audio-visual material is available if not needed here. We provide photocopies of material in our stock in accordance with current copyright regulations. Copies may be supplied by post or fax, or sent as a pdf.
Lancaster University Library is a member of several interlending groups, including Library and Information Health Network North West (LIHNN) and North West Libraries Interlending Partnership (NWLIP).
Theses and dissertations
Lancaster University is a member of the EThOS service, and applications for our doctoral theses should be made on the EThOS website. Masters' theses may be lent to British libraries, and photocopied for libraries abroad. Some Lancaster University masters' theses are not held in the University Library, but may be obtainable from the academic department concerned. The University Library does not have any undergraduate dissertations; again, the academic department may be able to help.
Music
Our scores are listed on the library catalogue. We require two British library numbers for the loan of choral and orchestral sets.
Libraries abroad
Libraries outside the UK may borrow books from us, and we will send photocopies abroad as a pdf, by post or by fax. We prefer payment in IFLA vouchers.
